The ROMANCE FEEDBACK Film Festival event of 2018 was a giant success. Simply said: People want to watch romance films – especially on Valentine’s Day!
The theme of the event was “TEXTING”.
Every film had people texting each other in a way of connecting. The 21st century way of romance!
A funny story about this Valentine’s Day screening! The Toronto Star newspaper decided to add a blurb about our festival in their Saturday paper about “Things for couples to do on February 14th”. Problem was that they didn’t tell us that they were going to do this, and when they added the blurb in the paper, the festival was already sold out. We had people showing up who demanded to get in, and it became a bit of a situation to say the least. That said, the paper did say to RSVP the festival and many people did email the festival only to be told that we didn’t have any tickets left. It was interesting how certain people just assumed they were going to get a seat and showed up demanding just that.
It’s interesting how nasty certain people can be to others. One lady really screamed at Festival Director Mary Cox about not being allowed in. Like it was her right on the planet earth to be allowed to watch the films. That situation is not good for anyone.
This really saddened me because we of course want people to come and enjoy the show. We just happen to be limited by how many seats we have.
The irony of course is that the Romance Festival is all about fun, love, kindness, connection, and harmony. That’s why the crowd came to this event. That particular lady is everything this festival is NOT about.
Overall, this was a terrific night. Every single film received at least a few votes for BEST FILM of the evening and the audience really seemed to enjoy the best of ROMANCE shorts from 2018 event. We have to do this festival every single year on Valentine’s Day!
