Director Statement
From directors Rex New & Thia Schuessler, co-founders of Shy Ruby Productions:
Last spring, we attended our friends’ wedding in New Orleans. We had always discussed shooting something there, and it was during that trip that we began to conceive THE WEDDING SONG.
We envisioned a plot that would revolve around the musical talents of another friend, New Orleans singer/songwriter Will Dickerson. With the help of Dickerson and Shy Ruby composer Ben Stanton, we created a music-themed film that we hope captures the uncertainty of our 20s amidst the beauty of New Orleans.
