LOVE Poem: Chasing Light, by Ashri Gorte

I move through evenings, a secret wish unspoken
woven into quiet streets, soft corners,
each heartbeat whispering your name like a prayer.
I circle your world faithful, unwavering.
Each turn, a vow;
each glance carrying a kindness I can’t disguise.

I pause by your street:
windows glowing like lanterns of affection.
I wait for a flicker
a glimpse that reminds me you’re real.
Dusk leans close,
and I become the night’s companion
not with hunger, but with hope.

Next week, perhaps,
fate will draw you into my line of sight
your laugh rising above the crowd,
a song I buried but never forgot.
I’ll lean against the wall,
quiet as petals in the wind,
watching the lives you touch,
grateful for the warmth you carry.

In the hum of the mall,
I remain still
the calm within a sea of strangers.
You’re gone,
yet your presence lingers in the air.
You are the missing note in every song,
the unfinished piece my heart remembers.

I’m not lost. I remain.
The world spins,
but I stay anchored to this gentle truth
devotion shaped into patience.
One way or another,
our paths will meet.
And you’ll know:
I never chased shadows.
I chased the light in you.
